Nina Hemingway

Nina Hemingway

Nina has been teaching Highland Dancing for more than 50 years. Her dancing career began at the age of three in Maryhill, Glasgow with Bessie Findlay for Highland and Evelyn Murray for Tap and Ballet. Evelyn later immigrated to Canada and continued teaching there.

Bessie Findlay retired from teaching when Nina was sixteen years old. Consequently Nina continued her dance education under the expert tuition of Elspeth Strathern. Elspeth trained her for all of her professional exams and Judges test. Being taught by Elspeth was by far the most educational and enjoyable classes of her dancing life.

Nina’s daughters Fiona and Catriona Campbell are both SDTA members and SOBHD Adjudicators. Many of Nina’s pupils have enjoyed success in competitive dancing, also performances for BBC Television and trips to many places including Japan, Canada, USA, Italy, Switzerland and France.
