I am delighted to announce that in the autumn of 2011 Highland dancers will have an amazing opportunity to participate in the inaugural Scottish Highland Festival at Disneyland Paris.
This new event will be a non-competitive Scottish Highland Festival, designed to give Highland Dancers of all ages and abilities an opportunity open to very few, to dance and showcase their dancing skills on a Stage in the heart of the magical world of Disneyland Paris, participate in workshops delivered by Disney professionals and, subject to the weather, take part in a Disney Pre-Parade, dancing along the famous Disney Parade Route, and even performing on stage in a Disney park subject to satisfying Disney’s audition criteria. Added to all of this, representatives from each participating school will perform in the festival’s opening ceremony with some very special Disney guests namely Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who will also be the guests of honour at the evening Ceilidh which will cap off a memorable day.
This full weekend experience will combine not only the event content but provide plenty of time to experience the magic that the two Disney parks and resort have to offer, meet all your favourite characters and experience the magic all the attractions have to offer. Participants will stay in the heart of the resort in Disney’s themed hotels, and have park entry tickets for their period of stay.
Before committing to this letter I spoke at a recent meeting of the SOBHD to outline the concept to the Members and to get their thoughts and reaction to promoting this event, and it was greeted with unanimous enthusiasm. I am very excited about the prospect of a Scottish Highland Festival going to Disneyland Paris. It will provide a memorable occasion for those who participate and is a chance to further elevate the standing of Scottish Highland Dance Schools to a much wider audience.
Scotdance along with FD Events has been commissioned to organise the programme for this Highland Dance Festival at Disneyland Paris, by Take Us 2 the Magic Limited and GD Events, which will ensure that the Highland Dance aspect will be of the highest possible standard.
At the moment we are working with Take Us 2 the Magic to finalise the packages, prices and date. Take us 2 the Magic is involved in the organisation and operating of similar events at Disneyland Paris and as recently as October this year had two events (not Scottish Dance) which proved to be very popular with around 1100 people in total attending each event.
This Festival will concentrate on Dance Schools, not individuals, giving Dance Teachers the opportunity to promote the abilities of all their students. Places will go quickly and capacity will be limited so I would be grateful if you could you please make your Dance School aware of this fantastic opportunity.
If you are interested in bringing your group/dance school to Disneyland Paris please reply to scotdanceparis@hotmail.co.uk with an estimated level of interest before 20th December.
Yours sincerely
Billy Forsyth
