Venue: Fir Park Football Stadium, Motherwell, ML1 2QN
We are looking for up to two hundred SOBHD Dancers, to dance a mass Highland Fling at this event.
Minimum age requirement is 8yrs, however no upper age restriction applies. Dancers must reside in North or South Lanarkshire, be able to provide their own Kilt and Hose (T/Shirts provided) and be available for the following dates:
Dress Rehearsal – Wednesday 3rd August (time to be arranged)
Opening Ceremony – Thursday 4th August (Evening)
In addition to the mass Highland Fling, a choreographed dance will be performed which will fuse together the two contrasting styles of street and Highland dance.
Of the two hundred mass Highland dancers, up to fifty dancers will be selected to participate in this choreographed dance.
Auditions have been arranged for the following dates:
- Saturday 11th June – Motherwell College from 3.00pm-5.00pm
- Friday 17th June – Funtastica Studios, M/well from 7pm-9pm.
Please wear kilt outfit for audition.

Participants for the choreographed piece must be able to commit to:
- 4 Rehearsal days – 30th July to 2nd Aug
- Dress Rehearsal – Wednesday 3rd August
- Opening Ceremony – Thursday 4th August

Rehersal times for the International Children’s Games:
All the Highland Choreography Dance cast involved in the Opening Ceremony will rehearse at John McCormack Centre, Carfin on 27 & 28 July and Airdrie Academy, Airdrie on 1 & 2 August.
It is very important that each dancer that has been specially picked to take part in this very exciting performance, can commit to the following rehearsal dates:
- Wednesday 27 July 10.00-1.00pm
- Thursday 28 July 10.00-1.00pm
- Monday 1 August Registration 11.45
- Tuesday 2 August Rehearsal 12.00-3.00pm
- Wednesday 3 August Dress rehearsal at Fir Park Stadium, Motherwell
- Drop off Point – Our Lady’s High School,M/well, 5pm
- Collection – Our Lady’s High School, M/well, 8.45pm
- Thursday 4 August Opening Ceremony, Evening Performance
- Drop off Point – Our Lady’s High School, M/well, 6pm
- Collection – Our Lady’s High School, M/well, 9.15pm (approx)
The Highland dancers will be housed in cafe 2 area and will be closely chaperoned and escorted to and from the stadium. All parents who have not already done so, will be required to fill in consent forms when they drop their children off at dress rehearsal. Unfortunately no parents will be allowed to stay in the school.
The performers should wear their kilt, hose and pumps and will be issued with a Games T/Shirt and two tickets at Dress Rehearsal.
