SDTA Online Events and Classes – Terms & Conditions

Guidelines for online classes 2021

The Scottish Dance Teachers’ Alliance (hereinafter referred to as SDTA or the SDTA) wish to ensure that the online classes are a safe experience for all involved.  The SDTA therefore require all participants (hereinafter referred to as students) and their parents/guardians to adhere to the following guidelines when attending online classes. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in participation in online classes being temporarily or permanently suspended. 

  • The students should use a studio or other suitable room, and only the student should be in that room.
  • Students should be aware of the space they have (including the ceiling height) and safely remove/adjust any potentially obstructive objects in their space.
  • Students should use suitable flooring.
  • Students should use a barre or suitable chair if required for classes.
  • Students should wear suitable clothing and footwear.
  • Online classes must not be recorded and/or shared.
  • Students should allow adequate time before the classes start for preparation of the dance space, testing of their camera positioning.
  • Students and parents/guardians should take steps to minimise visibility of personal items (such as family photographs) in the students’ space. 
  • The classes should not be interrupted e.g., the student should not leave the room without advising the teacher.
  • Teachers must be informed, before the classes begin, of any injuries being carried by the students.
  • Students must keep themselves warm between classes, to prevent injury.
  • Students should drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and should maintain their energy levels by eating a healthy snack between classes.
  • Any student who injures themselves in class or feels unwell should tell their teacher or a member of staff immediately.
  • Students are taking part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety and welfare. 

Code of Conduct for students, parents and guardians – Issued January 2021

The Scottish Dance Teachers’ Alliance (hereinafter referred to as SDTA or the SDTA) wish to ensure that online classes are a positive experience for all involved.  The SDTA therefore require participants (hereinafter referred to as students) and their parents/guardians to adhere to the following Code of Conduct.  Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in participation in the Programme being temporarily or permanently suspended. 

GENERAL 
  • Students and their parents/guardians are required to conduct themselves in an orderly and civilised manner.  Disrespectful behaviour towards teachers/teaching assistants, students (and/or their parents and guardians), SDTA staff will not be tolerated.
ATTENDANCE  
  • Punctuality is essential.  Late attendance can impact on the efficiency of the SDTA’s Covid-Secure regulations.  Late attendance/irregular attendance also increases the risk of injury due to warm up exercises, technique advice, instructions etc. being missed. 
UNIFORM 
  • Students must dress appropriately for classes.  Hair should be held securely off the face and neck.
SAFEGUARDING/DATA PROTECTION 
  • The SDTA’s main objective is to ensure that all young persons’ welfare and enjoyment, pertaining to all aspects of dance, are of an exemplary standard.  To this end, the SDTA introduced a Safeguarding Policy, coupled to a Safeguarding Code of Practice, Implementation & Procedures document.  The SDTA recognises the importance of ensuring every young person’s safety and protection from any form of abuse.  The SDTA recognises its own responsibilities to try to ensure that as far as possible all its many Members and helpers are familiar with, and adopt, its Safeguarding of Practice, Implementation & Procedures and Safeguarding Policy.

  • All SDTA staff, teachers/teaching assistants, students, parents/guardians and all visitors to the SDTA are expected to comply with the SDTA’s Safeguarding policy.  If you have any concerns or questions relating to safeguarding, please contact the SDTA Child Protection Officer at CPO@sdta.co.uk .
  • Student information is confidential and is retained in accordance with the SDTA Privacy Policy.  The SDTA Privacy Policy is available on the SDTA website.  It describes how the SDTA manages your personal information in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and your rights. The SDTA is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Our privacy notice will be updated from time to time, so customers may wish to periodically review our privacy notice to ensure they are happy with any changes. 
  • The SDTA will not publish or post any images (static or moving) of children under the age of 18, across any of our online channels without prior written consent (via the enrolment form), and then with minimal personal information. 
  • We ask that students, parents/guardians and visitors to the SDTA use social media and the internet in a safe and positive way while attending SDTA online classes.  This includes how the SDTA is referred to and represented when posting, commenting and blogging on any website or other social media platform. If you have any concerns in this regard, please contact the SDTA Office at office@sdta.co.uk .
HEALTH & SAFETY 
  • Teachers must be informed of students’ medical conditions (if relevant) and required medication should be handed to the Ballet Scholars teachers during registration.
  • Teachers must be informed, before the classes begin, of any injuries being carried by the students.
  • Students must keep themselves warm between classes, to prevent injury.
  • Students should drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and should maintain their energy levels by eating a healthy snack between classes.
  • Any student who injures themselves in class or feels unwell should tell their teacher or a member of staff immediately.
  • Students are taking part at their own risk.  The SDTA will not be held responsible for any injury or for loss/damage to belongings.

Terms and Conditions for students, parents, and guardians –Issued January 2021

 

ATTENDANCE  

  1. Teachers/Lecturers will make a record of student attendance for the purposes of safety and security.

SAFEGUARDING 

  1. The SDTA recognises its own responsibilities to try to ensure that as far as possible all its many Members and helpers are familiar with, and adopt, its Safeguarding of Practice, Implementation & Procedures and Safeguarding Policy.  The SDTA’s Safeguarding policy be found on our website: www.sdta.co.uk.

COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE 

  1. Any communication from the SDTA regarding a student, classes or information related to the online classes can only be sent to the parent/guardian named on the student’s enrolment form.
  2. The SDTA cannot be held responsible for any delay or non-receipt of correspondence due to incorrect contact details provided at the time of enrolment, or any other circumstances outside its control.
  3. A Code of Conduct will be issued to students and parents/guardians. Failure to observe the Code of Conduct may result in students being asked to leave the programme. The SDTA reserves the right to withdraw any student from the programme, prior to or after enrolment. No refund will be given if the Code of Conduct has been breached.

PROGRAMME CONTENT 

  1. The SDTA reserves the right to alter the advertised programme and faculty without prior notice. The information in this and any other printed or electronic timetable/information pack/notice was correct at the time of publication. 

GENERAL 

  1. The SDTA reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time for the benefit of the business, staff or participants. 

AGREEMENT TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS 

  1. Parents/guardians are required to acknowledge their acceptance of the Terms and Conditions by ticking the relevant box on the enrolment form.
  2. These Terms and Conditions must be accepted in order to enrol in the online classes.
